Explanation of Typical Registry Problems
Com/Active X: Invalid COM or Active X object entries in the Windows Registry can cause application failures, document and information loss, and system crashes. Registry Repair will find and remove these entries automatically.
Uninstall Entries: When an application's installer does not correctly set up the uninstall process, the Registry becomes clogged with invalid information. Registry Repair scours your Registry for invalid information left behind by incorrect uninstall processes.
Font Entries: Often application errors - especially in Word processing applications - are caused by missing or corrupt font files. Registry Repair resolves these inconsistencies for you by ensuring that font files taking up space in your Registry are valid.
Shared DLLs: Invalid entries in the Shared DLLs section of the Registry can cause a type of application failure commonly known as "DLL hell". Registry Repair puts your mind at ease by repairing and restoring your Registry automatically.
Application Paths: Disk directories that are not referenced correctly often cause programs to fail. Registry Repair will scan and fix the Application Paths section of the Window Registry.
Help Files Information: The last thing you need when you are looking for help on an application is for it to crash! Registry Repair takes care of invalid help file references so you never have to worry about the Registry containing incorrect help information.
Windows Startup Items: Registry Repair quickly finds and deletes missing program entries in the startup items area of the Windows Registry. Incorrect installation programs will cause these problems without you even realizing it!
File/Path References: Some Registry items can be associated with non-existent files and folders - such as when temporary files are used for storage. Registry Repair will help you remove the invalid entries every time you scan!
Program Shortcuts: Incorrect program shortcuts can cause applications to take much longer to start - or simply stop them from running at all. Registry Repair effortlessly finds these entries and removes them for you.
Empty Registry Keys: Registry Repair will remove Registry keys that have no value, sweeping out the useless entries that clog up your system.
File Associations: File associations let Windows know which applications are responsible for each file. If these values are incorrect, you may be unable to open your files, or they may open with the wrong program. Registry Repair will find these invalid entries so that they can be removed permanently.
Sound & App Events: Windows can play sounds to signal that various events have taken place. Attempting to use a missing or invalid sound can cause problems. Registry Repair looks for this situation and removes the offending sound reference.
CLSID/TypeLib/Interface Entries: these types of Registry entries control how Windows combines different components to perform complex tasks. Problems here can cause errors, task failures, or even system crashes. Registry Repair searches through this data and verifies that required information is present and correct.

What is the Windows Registry?
The Windows Registry is a database which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows. It contains critical information and settings for hardware, software, users, and preferences of the PC. The average Registry will have hundreds or thousands of pieces of information read from and written to it every day.
Where is the Windows Registry stored?
The Registry is stored in several files. The exact names and locations of these files depend upon the version of Windows, but they are all stored on the local machine.
Can I modify the Windows Registry manually?
You can edit the Registry by using Microsoft's Registry Editor (Regedit.exe or Regedt32.exe). If you use the Registry Editor incorrectly, you can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft does not guarantee that problems caused by using Registry Editor incorrectly can be resolved. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.
Why should I use Registry Repair?
Registry errors and corruption can prevent your system from running optimally or even booting. Registry Repair is a tool that can safely and easily detect and repair Registry errors, thereby, potentially preventing serious performance issues on your PC. Without regular Registry tune-ups, it's possible that your computer will not function normally and may even crash.
Why are File/Path references and Empty Registry Key errors not fixed or checked by default?
The Empty Registry Keys and File Path References Keys categories are for advanced users and are not checked by default.
File path references category:
- Registry items in file path references are associated with non-existing files and folders such.
- Sometimes these are temporary files are used for storage.
- These entries may still be valid and required for use.
- For this reason it is recommended that you only remove entries that you know are invalid.
Empty Registry Keys:
Empty keys are mostly benign. They have no value. Some programs use empty registry keys and won't let Registry Repair remove them. How do I add items to the managed exclude list?
- Open Registry Repair
- Select the categories desired and then click [start scan]
- When scan is finished, click [view errors]
- In the scan result screen (3/3) you will see a list of categories in which errors were found. Click on the [+] button to the left of a category.
- Now you will see a list of errors found. If you would like to ignore this error click the [ignore] button on the bottom right side of the listing.
- Once you have ignored the desired keys, you can click fix errors to continue the repair process.
