Why do I receive an error message when trying to decrypt a file/folder?
"Could not Decrypt Common files (my folder). The Decryption operation failed because of an unknown error. Would you like to retry?"
Solution:
There are two reasons that may cause this error message.
A) The folder or one of the files in the folder is still open in the "unprotected zone". To find out if this is the case do the following:
- (Make sure Vault is closed) Open a my computer window and open the drive on which you have it installed.
- Go to the top of the window and click "tools" > "folder options" > click on the "view tab"
Unhide hidden files and system files ... > click "apply" > and "ok" - Double click on the faded Vault folder and then double click on the "temp" folder.
This is your unprotected work space. If there are any files or folder in the temp directory either move them out or delete them. - Reopen Vault.
B) If there is nothing in the temp folder then your Vault table may be corrupted.

**NOTE: This recovery tool does not work on MS Vista/ or 64 bit MS XP**
This is a recovery utility that may allow you to recover files or folders from a vault even when the standard Vault software will not. It will require your password though.
Save the file to your desktop and extract all the contents to a folder with the same name on your desktop.
Then run the file called recoverlostfiles.exe
Specify the drive and the name of the vault and then enter your password.
